A little Playground
Just a post for me to throw up a bunch of top levels for everyone to play with some of my peoples.
Prompts taken from here
But also happy and open to other random prompts/threads.
And people up for play:

Renn
Up and coming idol girl. Mermaid. Must avoid water at all costs so only drinks water from a very secure, leak proof drink bottle. Can sometimes abuse her ability as a siren to get people to do things but always annoyed that the ability is limited to a few people in her presence.

Snow
Version 2 with ice abilities. Accepts his powers. Has a twin brother Phoenix.

Shion
From the show Final Life. Loosely based, as I couldn't really watch the entire series so only thrown to people for PSLs. He's a recluse, doesn't talk much but has some supernatural abilities. Going to tweak his personality a tiny bit to get him into threads easier. Quite flippant about things and doesn't really care much about anything unless you can get him to reveal his past.

Seiichi
Backstory on his journal. He comes in two points in time. One where he is a new shinigami working hard to protect his still alive wife. He's more loyal to her so gen or long slow burn. More positive and happy about things. The other is much further down the time line where he's watched his wife grow up a bit more without him, carry two children and move on with her life. But still very much in love with her so bitter about things but still wanting to protect her but also willing to get in bed with anybody and do anything to escape these feelings. He's prone to exploding if you poke him too hard but also has been evading the other shinigami for so long that he's a lot more adept at using powers and fighting.

Except there's a problem.
He's never been through this part of Japan before and wasn't quite sure how all the streets were laid out here. He's also not very used to these new powers that he has so trying to figure out how to reveal himself to just one person without scaring everyone else around them seems a little daunting but he has to figure it out at some point? All he needs is someone to give him a simple set of directions to the house this person lives at. You would think that as a supernatural being they would be given more accurate location powers. This is like old school GPS where the dot is never quite in the right place.
As it turns out I literally only have one active Japanese character, so that made it easy to pick
When you don't have any friends you have to entertain yourself somehow after all.
The problem is that Sougo also doesn't exactly have supernatural abilities, so while Seiichi fails to reveal himself to the passing humans, Sougo has yet to notice him as he hums to himself, pushing his bike along beside him instead of riding it.

It's taxing though. It weighs down on him each time she appears and he notices that she has made another year of memories with someone else. Knowing that he's working towards her soul being reincarnated with everything he could give her but not being able to follow her when it was time. He's been doing this for so long now he doesn't know what his debt to hell is. Or if there was a maximum cap on what that debt could be.
At this point he isn't sure whether he's still doing this out of love or if it was just something ingrained so deeply into him now that he just doesn't know another way of survival. This time, however, when he watches her lay those flowers with that sad expression on his face he can feel that rage building within him. This is the year he'll show himself to her. Tell her exactly how he feels. Show her exactly all he's done for her. Show her what he's endured and just how angry it was that all she does is lay flowers for him. What else has she done? Gone and raised a family. Moved on without him.
He takes a slow, shuddering breath as he picks himself up off the ground to go and finally confront her.

He only knows a little bit of what happened in that life, however, and it's only through friendly pestering that he's ever able to drag the tiniest bits of information out of Seiichi about the sorer subjects of his life. Sougo's gormlessness is sometimes disarming enough to allow him into people's lives, but it's still not enough to get the god of death to completely share all of his secrets with him.
But he's gotten enough out of him still. A location of Seiichi's death, and a date of when it happened as well. That Seiichi would possibly visit the location of his own death on that important day also occurs to Sougo, but that someone else from Seiichi's previous life might show up as well doesn't.
He can't see the shinigami right now, but as he cautiously approaches the spot, he can at least see the middle aged woman who is standing there as well, laying down flowers for someone she knew before Sougo was even born.
Before Seiichi can have his confrontation with his wife, Sougo unwittingly steps forward, accidentally blocking Seiichi's path to Kana as he looks down at the flowers with a solemn expression, drawing some attention from the woman who set them down, even if she doesn't speak to the young man.

Why should it be up to her to apologise to the other person?
She stops in front of the door to the senior she's supposedly apologising to and sighs loudly to herself. She will just get this over and done with. Start the apology and if things get awkward, sing him a little song and get out of there. Easy.

The problem is he's known for being a surly grump in every single interview he's ever done. While his work is pretty well received, his personality is a little more contentious for most. It certainly makes most people happy that Junghoon does most of his work behind t he scenes instead, though it's still unfortunate for the idols and singers who have to work with him during the period where songs are still being recorded.
It's one reason that Renn is probably being pressed to apologize to him, because his songs bring in decent bank, and while her group hasn't worked with him yet, they might in the future. And also while he's not very likely to spread the letter to the media, he is likely to carelessly toss it in the garbage without shredding it.
He's no idol, but he's well known enough that people will sometimes go through his trash.
If she had any thoughts of this being a simple and pleasant experience, let those be dashed when a disheveled young man opens his front door with a scowl.
"What?"

Renn hasn't had to reveal herself to her bodyguard in any way. They don't have to know that she was a siren and that she betrayed her sisters to come out and try living this life. They haven't done anything to warrant her using her powers so far and they're really good at making sure any water she gets is either in her special bottle or in a bottle that is definitely leak proof.
But lately, she's been wondering if maybe... there was something more there. Or if maybe she was just seeing things. Since she's been getting these feelings, she hasn't really had a chance to sit down with them on her own away from everyone else but she's been looking for a reason to get them alone. Looking for an excuse to talk to them just a little bit more.

Now Greg gets to play some small part in the whole musical affair. She gets to bodyguard and stay up close and personal with an actual adorable idol. Still relatively small time, but Renn herself has been sweet. Greg is set. She gets to do what she's good at and gets to enjoy what she loves for doing it. What could be better?
Well, she could do without the suspicions.
When Renn had asked for her own special bottle to be used, Greg didn't question it. Maybe it had been a gift from a beloved parent or friend. Maybe it just meant something to her. Or maybe she was afraid that some idiot would slip something into her drink. Dark thpughts, those. But Greg was fine with taking that extra step to help and comfort Renn. It made her smile, just a little. It was even kind of cute. But then... Then Renn had added in that other clause. "Leak-proof." That was the one that had Greg on guard.
It didn't possible for her to know. At the very least, Renn hadn't outright hinted and Greg covered her own footsteps well. She'd flown through the various background checks. No one from the Sea, except Ira, even knew about this set up. Her IDs and paperwork were good. Greg should have felt more secure. Instead, she felt her hand tightening around those damn leak-proof bottles every time.
But how to bring that up? Greg doesn't really want to break the seal on that conversation. She would much rather stick to guarding Renn; guarding herself from Renn... wouldn't work out well, for either of them.
no subject
The journey isn't too long so at least the awkward car ride would be short enough that they can pass it by with either small or no conversation. The issue then was how to invite Greg into her apartment and try to get her to stay long enough for them to have a conversation. She spends so long thinking about this in the dressing room that she loses all track of time.
By the time she glances back up at the clock, closing in on midnight and she starts to lose hope that there was any chance she would be able to have the conversation that night even though the following day was a day off for their group since they've just finished their last concert. Panicking, she's quickly picking up all her belongings and shoving them into her bag to rush out the door.
no subject
There is a lot Greg has never experienced, despite a long life lived both under the sea and on land. So whether or not just one lone group member stating behind is weird, or if that's completely normal... Who can say? Greg loves idol music, she loves their dedication, passion, and the way they move. But she doesn't know much about this part.
She doesn't mind. Not until Renn flies into a panic. That gets Greg on her feet fast, peeling away from the doorway she had been lazily leaning against. Her eyes scan the window and not for the first time, she is grateful for the solid weight of a weapon at her side.
"Hey, whoa," she says in her calmest tone. Not hard. Greg has always been level headed and cool. "What's the rush? You can rest up as long as you need."
no subject
Anyway, the more she thinks about it, the more she's sure that she was just imagining things. The close attention that Greg pays to her was likely because of her job more than anything. The idea of bringing up that there could be more there was absolutely ridiculous and that's not even thinking about what the company would do if she were to have personal relations with...
She shakes the thought out of her head and takes a breath, stopping the movement of her hands just for a moment. This was definitely not one of those moments she should be using her siren song. Even if it was the easiest way to navigate through these strange feelings. And even if she has used it to get her part of the way into this debut.
no subject
"Mm, well, don't worry about what time the company said." Greg is aware that most people worry about that, and whether that means they will get paid. But she's been putting funds aside for a century...
Not that she expects Renn to understand what she won't explain to her. "I put my hours in today... Ah, no, it's yesterday at this point. But my job isn't to only keep you safe a few hours and leave you. My job to keep you from running off alone, scared, in the dark and don't forget, I'm in your phone." Any day, any hour, Greg wasn't bothered with the strict scheduling the guard office had written into their contracts. She'd devoted herself. She could be on call, no sweat. "Let me get a cab. Get you home. Sound good?"
no subject
She packs a few more items before she takes a breath and, "Do you have...to rush off after I get home?" It's not like her to be timid, really. She stands on stage and her entire life up until the point she arrived in this human land was to lure people onto her island. To their doom. A thought that she likes to ignore whenever possible. She is mostly used to being in control and getting her way but this was different.
It also completely slips her mind that when she gets home she still needs to wash and clean herself. Although she's been around for a few hundred years, the majority of her life up until this point was on a secluded island with her sisters so.. her apartment was small. There wouldn't really be anywhere to hide her transition when she goes to bathe...in her tiny apartment bathtub.
no subject
Greg is quite sure Renn would be teased for saying that to a male guard. She is also sure that Renn is sweet, and Greg has never pretended that she didn't want the friendship in addition to guarding. It might even make her a better bodyguard, all things considered. Caring about your client's welfare isn't hard when you want to keep your friend safe.
"No rush," she promises. "Cab's still okay?"
Unlike Renn, though, Greg does think of her own bathtub. She's already groaning internally at the idea of missing out on her tub, but there's no reason she can't soak up a nap in there tomorrow. It's not so comfortable to sleep in a fluffy soft bed, but Greg can grit her teeth this once.

He huffs loudly at the locked door and kicks at it with the small range of motion that he has before turning to the person that seems to just be idling near him. He knew following that guy into this room was a bad idea but he didn't realize that the door was set to lock behind him as soon as he got into the room.
"You better have an idea on how to get out of here."

Perhaps... perhaps it's a lingering desire to find the way back to the Otherworld again, even if he's not been successful yet, not for the past forty or so years. That doesn't mean he's going to stop trying. The closet, if it could be called a closet, had really just oozed some strange kind of aura, and so he had stepped into it, of course! He wasn't exactly expecting to find Narnia (perhaps not quite, perhaps something more... wild), but it turns out to be just an ordinary closet. Bewitched, perhaps, but nothing more than that.
He would have been horribly bored, if he hadn't somehow managed to drag his newly minted (haha) acquaintance along with him, a little amused at the petulance of the other, kicking at the door like that.
"Well, for one, I doubt it works to kick at the door like that."
no subject
Like that was really going to work.
He swears at the door and then turns his back on it to glare back at the other person that seems to somehow enjoy their predicament. He had better things to do than stay locked up in this closet and staying in one place for too long was a sure way of getting him agitated. "How about you get us out of here since you were the one that waltzed in here in the first placed."

Mink isn't phased by the vitriol, by the death glare sent his way. He has far worse things vying for his life, and this is better than usual, to be honest. He turns to the door with a hum.
"Clearly it's meant to keep people in here, so I'm fairly sure more excessive force would probably backfire on us if we try it."

It started not long ago when he stole a dossier off another shinigami and noticed that one of the pages was active but also inactive at the same time. The image was greyed out and a lot of the information had been redacted. It wasn't anything he had seen before. Between the other dossiers he has been finalizing, he has dedicated quite some time to locating the person in that greyed out image and he's finally found her.
Seemingly enjoying a tourist life in the middle of Tokyo. He isn't sure if she really was just so carefree or just doesn't realize the extend of the gift she's been given. Regardless, he's going to approach her and find out just what her story is.

But first, Carmen wanted to do some sightseeing and explore Tokyo for herself. She had never been to Japan before. Today was the first full day of her vacation and she was making a point to enjoy every minute of it. She had been walking around for a few hours now. She had taken plenty of pictures, tried out a wide variety of foods, and had done some light shopping.
Deciding to take a short break, Carmen walked over to a park bench, took off her backpack, and sat down. She then took a deep breath and slowly exhaled with satisfaction. So far today was a good day. There was still so much to see and do. She was especially looking forward to flying over the city later on.
This happy mood distracted her from noticing anyone approaching her.

Namely, a way to escape hell. It's far too late to escape death but if she found a way to escape death then maybe there was also a loop hole to avoid his own fate.
He waits until she's settled and then makes it a point to actually shimmer in to her view in a way that maybe she would notice that he isn't a regular person like all the other people nearby. He's direct and to the point. No point when you're not trying to make friends after all and he hasn't had one of those since...well, since before he died.
"How are you still alive?"

No one could explain how she and others got their powers. No one could begin to explain the mysterious voices they all heard during their dying moments. No one could explain how they could control fire, water, earth, air, shadows, or light. It just simply was. As much as they all wanted their questions answered, none of them could afford to dwell on them all the time. Other things had to be prioritized. Monsters needed to be slayed and as long as they had these extraordinary gifts, they all wanted to put them to good use.
Carmen had been a superhero long enough to have met plenty of villains. She liked to think that she had been careful with her secret identity to avoid those villains from coming after her friends and family. This blunt question the man asks puts her on guard. She needed to know what his real intentions are.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Carmen asked as she tilted her head to reinforce the look of confused teenager.
Maybe this was somehow a misunderstand and he wasn't asking what Carmen thinks he's asking. Maybe if she played dumb she would get a better understanding of him.
